Dr. Leonard S. Scott is a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Indiana where he attended local public schools and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1966. He did his undergraduate studies at Indiana State University and received the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1973. Dr. Scott launched his private practice that same year in the 3500 block of North Keystone Avenue where it remained for 30 years. In 2003 he relocated the practice to the current location at 5501 East 71 st Street, where he was joined by his daughter, Dr. Lynna Scott-Diggs in 2007, and his granddaughter, Dr. Brooke Scott in 2019.
Dr. Leonard Scott recently retired from dentistry after nearly 50 years of service to his community. He is a Life Member of the American Dental Association, the Indiana Dental Association, and the Indianapolis District Dental Society, where he has served as an alternate delegate to the IDA and on the Peer Review Committee. Dr. Scott is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a member of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
Dr. Scott served his community in various ways. He was the radio talk show host for Medically Speaking, a public service health program sponsored by the Marion County Public Health Department, for nearly 20 years. He provided free dental services to the homeless for Wheeler Mission, for Mission of Mercy (MOM), and for Donated Dental Services. He has participated in medical missions’ trips to the Dominican Republic, Nassau Bahamas, and Kenya East Africa. He was a Man of the Year Candidate for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society in 2015.
Dr. Scott and his wife Christine have 7 adult children, and they serve as ministry leaders at the Rock
Church in Indianapolis. They are active in writing, recording and ministering gospel music. Dr. Scott has written three books and recorded twelve gospel music albums. He has received numerous professional and civic awards, including the Distinguished Hoosier Award, the Congressional Recognition Award, the Gospel Music Association Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Stellar Gospel Music Hall of Fame Award.
